Esse post vai ser muito semelhante com esse outro: 10 músicas e vídeos de Jazz para escutar. Assim como criei a comunidade Jazz, também sou dono da comunidade Soul Music no orkut, a maior sobre o estilo musical, até o momento quase 15 mil membros. Sim, criei muitos grupos naquela famigerada rede social, enquanto alguém mandava um scrap de “bom fim de semana”, eu criava uma comunidade.

Mas não só por isso que o artigo é semelhante, mas também pelo jazz ser parente próximo do soul, por terem ligações e influências mútuas, lógico, é tudo black music.

Mas chega de blablabla, e vamos para a seleção de músicas soul, gênero esse que assim como o jazz, possui muitas vertentes. Aqui estão algumas gravações que gosto, e considero como legítimo SOUL, nas mais variadas divisões, de r’n'b (oldschool), Philly Soul, Funk, Slow Jam, Smooth Soul ao Psychedelic Soul. O lance da banda em questão é o GROOVE, e pelos sintetizadores e outros elementos  nota-se que é fortemente influenciada pelos anos 80, pelo funk e r’n'b daquela década – que eu sou viciado, a ponto de ter uma vasta coleção de grooves raros e nem tanto.

O’Spada – Time

Esses acordes em estilo brass synth que saem do Nord Lead que o tecladista toca são fodas, juntando com os licks de guitarra e o vocal sensacional da cantora, as linhas de batera quebrada, o baixo slap, tudo contribui pra deixar o som funky. O groove espaçado, mostra como o silêncio é importante na música. Grande achado essa banda, descobri num blog.

O’Spada was formed in 2006 by five individuals whose different influences forged a clash between soul, funk, hip hop and rock. The band gradually earned a reputation through a few demo songs and their vivid live performances, handing them a record deal with Despotz Records in 2008. This year, they have been completing their so far untitled debut album, to be released in early 2010. Both singles released this fall – Time and Ten Strikes – has had an overwhelming response. O’Spada has recieved praise internationally from acclaimed media such as The Guardian, Annie Mac on BBC Radio1, The Fader and Monocle. Here are some first responces to their assault on the world:
